PRESS RELEASE

ChamberWest Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 2020 holiday season and 11th Annual Small Business Saturday® by promoting our Shop Small, Shop Local Campaign as a Small Business Saturday Coalition Member.

West Valley City, City of West Jordan, City of Taylorsville, and Kearns Metro Township – 11/24/2020
ChamberWest Chamber of Commerce announced today that it is working with American Express as a member of the
Small Business Saturday Coalition Program. It will promote a Shop Small, Shop Local Campaign as part of Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Nov 28, and all holiday season long. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday celebrates the impact small businesses have on communities across the country.

ChamberWest is encouraging local residents to support small business by frequenting local, small establishments this Saturday and to share their experiences online. This can be done by posting on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google Reviews, etc. and using the following hashtags: #shopsmall #chamberwest. As word of mouth and social posts are the best types of advertising that supports small business, residents are encouraged to give shoutouts to their local businesses. ChamberWest also encourages chamber members who are small businesses to post their holiday deals on its website. Businesses are also encouraged to share if they are doing a curb-side pick up to help all shoppers feel confident in supporting them.

This year’s celebration is the 11th Annual Small Business Saturday, since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $120 billion across all Small Business Saturdays combined. 1 That’s $120 billion toward helping communities thrive, spent over just ten days alone.

In order to drive shoppers to Shop Small® this Nov 28, ChamberWest Chamber of Commerce is participating in the Small Business Saturday Coalition Program to spotlight small businesses and the impact they have on communities. According to the 2019 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, 97% of consumers who shopped on Small Business Saturday agree that small businesses are essential to their community and 95% reported the day makes them want to shop or eat at small, independently-owned businesses all year long, not just during the holiday season2

In past years, ChamberWest has been a proud member of the Small Business Saturday Coalition Program. Residents and businesses are encouraged to help make this Small Business Saturday the best one yet.
