ChamberWest - Highlights for June 15-19 - New Salt Lake County Grant Program Opens Tomorrow - SBA PPP Update and More

Good afternoon,

According to the National Registry – Juneteenth Organizations & Supports website, www.junteenth.com,  June 19th is the oldest national celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.  This day is a time for reflection and rejoining, a time for assessment, self-improvement and for planning the future.  “In cities across the country, people of all races, nationalities, and religions are joining hands to truthfully acknowledge a period in our history that shaped and continues to influence our society today”.  We should all give pause to consider our history and the influence it has on our future.

Salt Lake County has announced their new Covid-19 Small Business Impact Grant program, for businesses severely impacted by the public health order closures.  Eligible businesses can receive up to $35,000 in grants which is being funded by $40 million of Salt Lake County’s CARES Act disbursement.  The opening date for applications is June 16th and will remain open until the funds are exhausted.  There are some eligibility requirements you will want to review and some documents you will want to have pulled to facilitate the completion of the application.  More information about the Grant can be found at slco.org.

As a reminder, the SBA Regional Administrator, Dan Nordberg has shared several changes and enhancements to the Paycheck Protection Program including maturity for loans extended, coverage period extended, safe harbor elements, a shift in percentage usages for the loan, and more.  You can view the information at:  https://chamberwest.com/blog/chamberwest-blog-4949/post/statement-by-sba-regional-administrator-dan-nordberg-on-changes-to-the-paycheck-protection-program-24729 .  Dan Nordberg presented at our ChamberWest Tuesday Topics this morning and went into detail on the new changes and evolution of the PPP.
