CW Leadership Communication - Exciting News

First of all, Happy Holidays to All!  May you enjoy a beautiful holiday season with family and friends and may 2022 be good to you! 
 
As we wrap up 2021, I wanted to share some highlights of greatness in ChamberWest.  In West Valley City, we wish Mayor Ron Bigelow a fulfilling transition to retirement from public service.  After 16 years in the legislature, two years as the Governor’s Director of Budget and Planning, and eight years as the Mayor of West Valley City, he has certainly served our community well.   We welcome his continued engagement in ChamberWest and are excited that he will continue to share his wealth of information, influence, and engagement!
 
We are kicking off 2022 with much energy and strong programs including our Professional Development Series, our Women in Business Professional Growth Series and much more.  Our Legislative Affairs Committee is gearing up for the 2022 Legislative Session with work in nine areas of importance to our members – Air Quality, Business and Government Relations, Economic Development and Business Sustainability, Education and Workforce, Healthcare, Housing, Tax Reform, Transportation, and Water Conservation and Development.  Great job to the committee on their work addressing catalytic converter theft!  The bill they have been working with the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee and is now a committee bill and will most likely be heard at the very beginning of the session. 
 
Our 2022 Annual Awards Gala is set for March 8^th and with excitement, I’m thrilled to announce that Mayor Kristie Overson has been selected by our Board of Governors as this year’s Hall of Fame Award winner.  Mark your calendar and plan to join us for an exciting celebration of business success!  Congrats Mayor Overson!
 
We are excited to welcome a new team member as part of a collaborative partnership with Visit Salt Lake.  Visit Salt Lake will fund a full time Sports, Tourism & Events Sales Manager – West Region position that will office out of ChamberWest two days a week and will focus on bringing businesses to our westside footprint.  Please join me in welcoming Evan Bauerle to our team in this new role!  We are also interviewing and expecting to announce a new Business Development Director in the very near future that will focus on our West Jordan and Kearns communities and be an amazing addition to the team. 
  
Lastly, I want to thank our many member volunteers and the ChamberWest staff for the great work done on behalf of our business community.  May 2022 be a great year for all of us!
