CW Leadership Communication - Golf, Leadership Institute & More

Good morning!

It seems that the summer is flying by as we are already beyond the middle of July.  Hopefully, as we enjoy celebrations for our country and state this month, you are finding opportunities to spend time with family and friends! Speaking about business, ChamberWest has been like a locomotive with much work taking place in support of our businesses and community.

On the fun and interactive side, we have the ChamberWest Golf Tournament scheduled for Wednesday, August 18 at Stonebridge Golf Club.  This year’s tournament will use 27 holes for an 18 hole scramble with a shot gun start, breakfast, and an awards luncheon. We are planning on 180 golfers this year.  There are just a few remaining spots available for hole sponsorships and foursomes so if you are interested, you will want to contact us as soon as possible.  You can get more information and/or register at:  https://chamberwest.com/events/details/annual-chamberwest-golf-classic-1406?calendarMonth=2021-08-01.  Please reach out to staff if you are interested in a sponsorship or donating a raffle item.

If you are feeling like you are spinning your wheels at your business, the Professional Development Committee has confirmed a session you will want to attend on Tuesday, August 17th from 11:30 – 1:00 pm titled “ Are you Running Your Business or is Your Business Running You”.  This luncheon event will feature a panel of small business owners who have embraced a program to help them effectively run their business.  Registration just opened and more information will be forthcoming. Registration is available at:  https://chamberwest.com/events/details/chamberwest-professional-development-series-1509?calendarMonth=2021-08-01

The 2021/2022 Leadership Institute Program is now accepting applications.  This program is designed to challenge and engage leaders in professional and personal growth while inspiring an entrepreneurial spirit in building a better community.  One of the participants from last year shared the following:  “The experience & wisdom gained from this program was more than I could have ever expected.  It not only helped shape who I want to be as a leader, but more importantly, it has already impacted my team & department in such a positive way.”  Get your applications submitted as soon as possible to secure one of the 25 available slots.  More information and registration is available at: https://chamberwest.com/2021-leadership-institute.

The Legislative Affairs Committee spun off a special Business Theft Task Force that is working with local police departments to explore possible language for a 2022 bill dealing specifically with the theft of catalytic converters.  We’ve heard from many businesses of the cost and interruption of business due to an increased number of these types of thefts and the committee is taking a proactive approach to addressing the issue.

The Small Business Development Series will feature a presenter from the Small Business Development Center on Lean Product Development.  Participating businesses will discover ways to present products/services in a way to shift from hoping products/services will be purchased to knowing they will be purchased.  More information and registration for the event is included below.
