CW Leadership Communication: Strong Leadership, Leadership Institute, COVID Information

At ChamberWest Chamber of Commerce, there is much to reflect on and to be thankful for as we swiftly approach Thanksgiving Day 2020.  We have outstanding business and civic leaders who volunteer their expertise, time, and energy to ensure a positive business environment.  We have local, county, state, and federal governments focused on supporting businesses to help them survive through this pandemic.

Just over the past week, our Board of Governors met to discuss industry issues and trends and to explore a potential group 401k plan that could be beneficial to our member businesses.  The Education and Workforce Development Subcommittee and the Tax Reform Subcommittee of our powerful Legislative Affairs Committee both met as committee members continue to do the work to ensure a strong voice during the upcoming legislative session.  The Legislative Affairs Committee meets next week to finalize the nine priority documents critical to a successful interaction with our legislators.

Our Leadership Institute Board of Trustees met as they carefully and strategically plan the 2021 session which starts on January 27-28th  with ten sessions and concluding on June 10th.  As a reminder, early bird registration is still available.  Applications are available at: https://chamberwest.com/2021-leadership-institute

We are wrapping up our CW Small Business Advertising Grant program and are proud to announce that we were able to support 20 small businesses with $4,000 in advertising grants.  The Taylorsville Shop Local Program, with 65 small businesses participating, is in full swing with businesses expressing gratitude and residents excited to support local businesses.

This Saturday is the official Small Business Saturday with encouragement to support local small businesses which could use your support this year more than ever.

Meanwhile, as COVID-19 cases continue to increase, remember the resources that are available at: https://coronavirus.utah.gov/ .  You can access the most updated Business Manual at:  https://coronavirus-download.utah.gov/business/COVID-19_Business_Packet_FIN.pdf and information on vaccines and expected availability is available at:  https://coronavirus.utah.gov/vaccine.   The Utah Department of Health  November 24th State Public Health Order is available at:  Utah State Public Health Order 2020-25

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need any additional information.  On behalf of the staff of ChamberWest, I’d like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Even with smaller gatherings, there is much to be grateful for this year.  Stay safe!
