• As a CONVENER, ChamberWest brings Business, City, and Legislative Leaders to the same table in our Legislative Affairs Committee.  This committee is a powerful force within the State of Utah that ADVOCATES on behalf of our BUSINESS COMMUNITY.  Our Legislative Affairs Committee is comprised of subcommittees, each of them holding a piece of our puzzle. 

    The job…Business Advocacy - Moving our Economy Forward. Magic happens in our Legislative Affairs Committee! This committee meets monthly April – December to “deep dive” into issues important to our business community. Seven sub-committees identify and create Priorities Documents around important issues such as (click below to view each one):

    Business & Government Relations

    Economic Development Education and Workforce Development
    Healthcare Housing
    Tax Reform Transportation
    Water Conservation and Development  


    Air Quality, Economic Development, Education, Healthcare, Housing, Transportation, and Water Development. During January – March legislative session, the committee reviews bills to identify those impacting business in our communities and then works to advocate for our members based on those positions. The committee meets with legislators weekly to expand relationships, offer professional opinions from industry, share positions on specific legislation, and to provide a forum for legislators to communicate to business and civic leaders of bills in process.  You can view a schedule of upcoming meetings at the bottom of this page.  Scroll down to see what's gearing up for the 2021 Legislative Session

    In addition to the Legislative Affairs Committee, ChamberWest also participates with other Chambers/Cities on the western side of the Salt Lake Valley as part of the Western Growth Coalition.

    Heading into 2021:

    Each year, our State Legislators work hard to identify sound legislation and proposed bills that they feel need to be created or amended.  During this process, our ChamberWest Legislative Affairs Committee Use our Bill Tracker to keep track of proposed bills that could affect businesses and the impact they may have.  You can follow along by tracking which ones have been Opposed or Supported by the business community in ChamberWest.  You can also let your voice be heard by reaching out to us to let us know your thoughts.  If you're interested in joining our Legislative Affairs Committee, cost information and instructions are further down below.
